Meet Our Instructors

Kayla, Lead Instructor (English/Mandarin)

After graduating with her master’s degree in 2018, Kayla began practicing Pilates, discovering it to be a refreshing and enjoyable form of exercise. She initially turned to Pilates to address the shoulder and back pain caused by poor posture from long hours in her finance job as quantitative researcher at JPMorgan, as well as knee discomfort from years of running. With consistent practice, these issues resolved.

Determined to deepen her understanding of Pilates, Kayla completed the Balanced Body Comprehensive Program Training, fulfilling the required 520 hours. She is fully certified as comprehensive pilates instructor.

Kayla emphasizes the importance of breath, guiding her clients to learn breathing techniques that enhance their Pilates practice. She specializes in core strengthening, using progressive exercises and proper breathing to help clients engage their core effectively, improving posture and alleviating back pain. She encourages clients to explore their strengths and connect their minds to their bodies. Kayla is passionate about Pilates and loves building relationships with her clients. She aims to provide everyone interested in Pilates with a systematic and informed approach, understanding why to practice, how to do it, and the benefits of their efforts.

Tammie, Lead Instructor (Madarin)

With a background in e-commerce and advertising, she turned to movement rehabilitation after struggling with chronic back pain from desk work. This personal journey led her to discover the transformative power of Pilates and yoga.

She has been trained and certified in the Polestar Pilates system, Franklin Method (pelvis and lower limbs module), functional anatomy, and prenatal/postnatal Pilates. With 7 years of experience in the field, she believes Pilates is not merely a repetition of movements, but a deep exploration and understanding of the body’s structure and function. By using the body in a more efficient, scientific, and safe way, one can achieve better athletic performance, a healthier body, and a more graceful posture.

Specialties: Posture correction, body sculpting, pain relief (shoulder, neck, back), and postnatal recovery

Aimee, Instructor (English/Mandarin)

Aimee holds a Master’s degree from UT Austin and has worked in the tech industry, specializing in UX and digital advertising. Beyond her professional background, she has been an active fitness enthusiast for over a decade—particularly passionate about running, with several marathons under her belt. Over time, she discovered the importance of strength training and the benefits of slower, more mindful movement through Pilates. She has been practicing Pilates for five years and trained in the Power4 Pilates Comprehensive program. Her teaching emphasizes intentional, slower-paced movement, targeting specific muscle groups to build strength that supports everyday function and long-term well-being. Aimee’s goal is to help others cultivate confidence, resilience, and inner calm through graceful, purposeful movement.

Amber, Instructor (Madarin)

Amber comes from a professional background in healthcare. She was a registered nurse in Taiwan for eight years and is currently a licensed acupuncturist practicing in California. Her passion for health and wellness started in college when she became interested in weight management. That curiosity led her to explore various forms of exercise, including strength training, HIIT, CrossFit, yoga, and eventually Pilates.

Among all the modalities she has tried, she found Pilates to be the most effective in improving body alignment, posture, and overall physique. That’s why she decided to focus deeply on Pilates over the past five years. Combining her medical knowledge with mindful movement, she aims to guide others toward a more balanced, functional, and empowered body. She believes movement is medicine, and she is excited to share that philosophy with others through Pilates.

Amber is trained through the Balanced Body® Comprehensive program.

Cynthia, Instructor (English/Mandarin)

Cynthia began her movement journey after developing chronic neck discomfort at a young age due to years of prolonged desk work and poor posture. This experience led her to explore effective and sustainable ways to improve posture, strength, and overall movement quality.

Over the years, she has explored a wide range of physical activities, including running, swimming, dance, yoga, freediving, skateboarding, and snowboarding. Pilates emerged as the most precise and impactful method for long-term physical improvement. Its focus on alignment, control, and efficient movement helped her build strength, coordination, and body awareness.

Trained in the STOTT Pilates system, she is dedicated to helping clients improve posture, muscular endurance, and coordination, while integrating Pilates principles into daily life and other forms of exercise. She is committed to continuous learning and strives to grow as a thoughtful, evolving Pilates instructor.

Marina, Instructor (English/Mandarin)

Marina holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a background that informs her systematic and logic-driven approach to movement. Her journey began in 2021, when she turned to Pilates to resolve chronic lower back pain. Through her own dedicated practice and successful postural correction, she gained a profound, firsthand understanding of the mechanics of alignment and recovery.

Marina is trained through the Balanced Body Comprehensive program at Center of Balance, she bridges the gap between technical theory and physical sensation. Her personal evolution from pain to strength allows her to deeply empathize with her clients' challenges, identifying precisely where they may be struggling.
